Yesterday marked the 1 year mark of the start of this website! A year in, and pretty much nothing has changed, and only a couple dozen posts have been made. Maybe that will make me want to work on the site more often. We’ll see. Happy Belated Birthday GeekySpeak!

Misuse of the Phrase “I Could Care Less”
This is another thing that bothers me quite a bit. When people say “I could care less,” they really mean “I couldn’t care less”. The phrase. When someone says that they could care less, that means that they do care some. But, most of the time, when they say this, they mean that they don’t care at all. In order to say what they really mean, they need to start saying, “I couldn’t care less”, meaning that they are at the absolute lowest state of caring.

Take out your pen and paper! Time to learn writing words in binary! WARNING- CONTAINS MATH!!!First I’ll show you the alphabet- it will make more sense after the entire lesson. A=65 B=66 C=67 D=68 E= 69 F=70 G=71 H=72 I=73 J= 74 K=75 L=76 M=77 N=78 O=79 P=80 Q=81 R=82 S=83 T=84 U=85 V=86 W=87 X=88 Y=89 Z=90. Now for the chart (this will be better on paper than in your head). You start at the right side of the paper. Write “1″ then leave a space and put a “2″ then another space and a “4″ then yet an other space and an “8″ then another space and a “16″ and another space and a “32″ then space and a “64″ you could go on to 128 but you don’t need to. Your paper should look like this-
A-65 64 32 16 8 4 2 1
B-66
C-67
…

The letters on the side go on to Z. Binary is written in 1’s and 0’s (that’s a zero not an oh) 1 being on and 0 being off. You put a 1 under the numbers that are being used to add up to another number. The “another number” will equal a letter. For Example:
64 32 16 8 4 2 1
1 0 0 0 0 0 1
The numbers add up to 65, or A. Now, here is a whole word.
________64 32 16 8 4 2 1
71-G _____ 1 0 0 0 1 1 1
69- E_____ 1 0 0 0 1 0 1
69-E_____ 1 0 0 0 1 0 1
75-K_____ 1 0 0 1 0 1 1

Misuse of the Word Literally
This is one thing that really bothers me. People misuse this word often. For example, some people will say something like, “I literally laughed my head off!” Now, the word “literally” means- actually; without exaggeration or inaccuracy. So, in the example previously stated, who ever said it, meant their head actually fell off due to the intensity of their laughter. My apologies to any headless comedy-lovers; although I doubt any users of the word “literally” actually are.
